Government Affairs
The Washington Multi Family Housing Association, is pleased to have Kathryn A. Hedrick, an independent lobbyist representing the interests of WMFHA members on the issues that will change and affect our careers, jobs, and the way we do business.
Ms. Hedrick has professional experience in government and public affairs. She has participated in several legislative sessions before the State Legislature in Olympia. For WMFHA, Kathryn’s primary focus is representing the voice and views of WMFHA members before the legislature in a positive manner, fostering positive relationships between legislators and WMFHA membership, and consulting and informing membership of pertinent legislation.
PAC – Political Action Committee
One objective of the association is to find strength in numbers. Building a coalition among industry professionals is one of the most effective ways to turn ideas into action. In addition to having a professional lobbyist working for us in Olympia, we have formed a Political Action Committee. The goal of the PAC is to support state and local candidates who represent good government and understand the needs and concerns of the multifamily housing industry. Through the PAC, we strive to better educate lawmakers about our industry and guarantee that no decision is made that could affect our industry until our voices are heard.
For more information on how you can contribute to the PAC, please call 425-656-9077.
National Representation
As an affiliate of NAA we have opportunities to become involved on various issues throughout the country.
NAA is a founding member of the Real Estate Advocacy Group for States (REAGS), an organization that was founded to advance the real estate agenda with state and local policymakers across the country. Its members include the American Institute of Architects, Building Owners and Managers Association, International Council of Shopping Centers, National Association of Home Builders, National Association of Industrial and Office Properties and the National Multi Housing Council.
Coalition building is an important part of advancing the agenda of any organization. The theory behind coalition building is simple--get a group of people or organizations together who are like-minded on a particular issue, or issues, and work to further that agenda. And, it’s the simplicity of the concept that makes it such an effective tool for advocacy.
WMFHA members receive legislative representation as an industry on both local and national levels. The WMFHA and NAA monitor and participate in the legislative process in order to allow property managers and management companies to operate in a fair and effective manner.
We need you to be involved!
As a member you have the opportunity to serve on our Government Affairs Committee to share in the strong new voice of Property Management. This is YOUR chance to support YOUR position at both the State and National level.
