Let's CLAP for CALP!

Posted By: Jason Loughridge Articles,

In February, 16 dedicated Leasing Professionals invested in 3 days of training to obtain their National Apartment Association Certified Apartment Leasing Professional (CALP) Credentials. This provided them an opportunity to learn and sharpen their sales skills. The students arrived each day at our 1Up Training Center in Renton with positive attitudes and an appetite for education.

This is a peek at some of the topics that were covered over the 3 day training:

  • Marketing: Traffic generation, reputation management, relationship building
  • Evaluations: Sales performances, overcoming objections, qualifying residents
  • Fair Housing: Rental policies, rental criteria, resident issues
  • Closing: Preparing and reviewing leases, move-ins, incident management
  • Retention: Resident relations, lease renewals, market surveys

Along with the stellar content presented, the students were also able to expand their network by meeting other industry professionals. This provides additional support for them in their field, as they can reach out to one another for new ideas and ways to overcome objections in leasing.

Now that the coursework is complete, the student will soon take their final exam and upon passing with be officially able to put those coveted CALP letters in their title!

We also would like to thank our CALP instructors who volunteered their time to help educate the next generation:

  • Courtney Callahan, CAM, NAAEI Faculty, Greystar
  • Sheilagh Snyder, CAM, NAAEI Faculty, Thrive Communities
  • Saniya Regmi, CAM, NAAEI Faculty, GRE Management

If you know any of this year's students, please reach out to congratulate them and wish them well on their exam!
