Posted By: Ryan Makinster Advocacy News,

On Tuesday September 19, WMFHA hosted a webinar educating attendees on the state’s recently announced Washington EV Charging Program (WAEVCP). And it is already showing success. WMFHA member LED Trail has already met with 5 members on 6 projects to discuss eligibility and planning for submitting an application. One project already has been shown to be eligible for $32,000 towards the cost of the of the project, 90% of the maximum eligible funds per project. Although another project didn’t qualify for state funding, LED Trail is working with the team to look for other cost offsets to make it a reality.

Created through $64 million of state funding, the program includes $28.8 million of grant funding to support multi-family housing infrastructure, specifically to offset the cost to install Level 2 chargers in qualifying multi-family sites. Qualifying projects will receive a grant that can cover up to 100% of their equipment and installation costs.

If you were unable to attend the webinar, you can view the recording here and the slide deck is available here. More information can be found here.

If you are eligible for the funds, you can partner with other organizations in the process as well. We even have a fantastic supplier member, LED Trail, an Office of Minority and Women’s Business Enterprises (OMWBE) certified firm, that can assist members qualify for these funds. Working with an OMWBE certified firm allows projects to get a bonus in their grant eligibility.  They have already been able to help multiple members apply.
