Together We Raised $46,964 for DAWN!

Posted By: Kelly Wakefield (deleted) WMFHA Updates,

Wow, we really did make Jim sweat with WMFHA's match to your donations at our 12th annual Chili Cook-Off Charity Event!

We blew past last year's total of $33,526 and came in 29% higher!

Thanks to the 500+ attendees, 34 sponsors and competitors, 49 in-kind donations, all of the volunteers and vendors, and YOU who made this our best Chili Cook-Off yet. It's going to be hard to top that number next year!

A special thanks goes to Seattle Seahawks Sea Gals Frankie and Lisa, mascot BOOM, and the Blue Thunder Drum Corp.! We hope you had as much fun with them as we did.

Our celebrity judges had their work cut out for them and took their job seriously. Thanks to Angela King from KUOW, Dave Johnson from Maple Valley Parks and Recreation, and Brett Waller from WMFHA. Drumroll please...and here are our chili winners:

“This event allows WMFHA and its members to assist a charitable organization that has been near and dear to our hearts for many years,” says Jim Wiard, Executive Director of WMFHA.
“I am honored to accept these funds from the Washington Multi-Family Housing Association to assist DAWN’s efforts to provide safety, shelter, education and prevention to survivors of domestic violence in King County,” states Cheryl Kilodavis, Executive Director of DAWN.

Together we have donated over $194,500 to DAWN from a total of twelve Chili Cook-Off events.

DAWN has been providing a safe haven for victims of domestic violence in south King County since 1980. Since then, an estimated 400,000 survivors and their children have found safety and a new violence-free beginning with the help of the resources offered by DAWN. DAWN is the sole provider of emergency confidential shelter and 24-hour Advocacy & Crisis line in south King County.  Long-term, DAWN works towards safe, just and equitable communities for everyone.

THANK YOU ALL!
