Affiliate of the Year: Member Engagement Initiative

In an unfamiliar, virtual era, WMFHA took to meeting members where they are: on screens. 

Our short, informative WMFHA Wednesdays videos serve many purposes including awareness, engagement, and inspiration.

The first videos we produced after our state locked down were “Words of Encouragement.” Not being able to meet people in person, we asked members to send motivational video clips with their messages for the membership. Culminating in seven minutes of beautifully orchestrated inspiration, the industry was assured, and spirits were lifted.

“Together, we make one WMFHA-bulous team.”

Over sixty individuals and association staff shared their thoughts on film, representing almost as many companies and properties across the state. The videos received over 2,500 views across all platforms. In response, one member commented, “I’m not crying, you’re crying.”

Later, we created videos to highlight our Emerald Awards winners’ moments to shine. COVID-19 limited attendance at what would come to be our last in person event of the year. But we didn’t let that limit celebration. WMFHA Wednesdays videos highlighted almost all award winners who had missed their acceptance opportunity.

Weekly videos continue to awe, inspire, and inform our membership. In 2020 we featured women in maintenance, resident engagement tactics, exercise tips, members dancing, nonprofits, careers, education, events, advocacy, and more.

Our members have come to anticipate weekly videos to help their careers and stay connected.
