I have been in the multifamily industry for 26 years. I have made the move over to the supplier side to help in solving a problem that I have seen for almost all of the years I have been in the business - clogged trash chutes. Usually, it's from cardboard boxes from people moving in and not knowing how to dispose of the boxes they packed their belongings in. I started Totes Ma'Goats, a rentable moving tote company that uses eco-friendly totes made from recycled plastic, eliminating the need for cardboard boxes in the moving process. This helps in two ways.
1.) Keeps the trash chutes clean - this will cut down on calling maintenance men in to unclog them, usually on the weekends (paying overtime), and also avoid damage to trash compactors when the large obstruction does make it to the bottom of the chute.
2.) Lowering the trash bill. Once the cardboard boxes are placed down the trash chutes, they become a part of our trash tonnage, and that adds up. Keeping this waste out of our trash flow helps keep the trash bill as low as possible, and that is good for the bottom line.
