An alternative to the WMFHA PAC, the Better Government Fund (BGF) is used to protect the state’s multifamily apartment industry from harmful legislation and to fund the legal fight against civil actions that would hurt property rights or have negative financial implications for the rental housing industry.

The Better Government Fund (BGF)
The WMFHA BGF, is used to protect the state’s multifamily apartment industry from harmful legislation, and to fund the legal fight against civil actions that would severely curtail private property rights or financially harm Washington’s rental housing community.
We use funds given to the BGF for many crucial things, including:
- Preserving the statewide prohibition on rent control and opposing efforts to add unnecessary and costly regulation.
- Protect the careful balance of the Washington Residential Landlord-Tenant Act.
- Supporting long-term solutions to increase the production of rental housing including affordable and workforce housing.
- Preparing for impending litigation related to private property rights. We must be prepared to fight back at the highest levels of the judicial system.
