Shoreline Tenant Protections

Posted By: Carter Nelson Advocacy News,

Despite significant opposition from WMFHA members and others in the multifamily housing industry, Shoreline City Council approved a new ordinance on December 11 that established tenant protections for renters in Shoreline.

While this wasn’t a win for us, it showcased valuable member engagement. Multiple amendments to the original proposed protections were presented due to the feedback of our members. While most were not adopted, we were able to sway some members of the council that parts of their proposal were unnecessary and harmful. We met with half of the Shoreline council over the course of 3 weeks, connecting operators in Shoreline to share their experience and offer feedback that was considered in the council’s final decision. Your advocacy team submitted written comments and testified on behalf of WMFHA. See our letter here.

A very special thank you to Avenue5, Goodman Real Estate, Weidner Apartment Homes, Coast Property Management and Allied Residential for your support and involvement through the entirety of our work on this issue.
