Fair Housing Friday - April 2019

Fair Housing and hoarding!

Friday, April 26, 2019
9:00 AM - 10:30 AM (PDT)

WMFHA's Monthly Fair Housing Friday!

Fair Housing is an important business practice and it is crucial that our associates are always up to date on Fair Housing laws, new legislation and anticipated changes.

Fair Housing should be considered in our sales and leasing practices, marketing strategies, maintenance and even observed by our supplier partners when on our communities and interacting with our residents and prospective residents.

April's focus: Fair Housing and Hoarding

Hoarding is a wide-reaching problem in multifamily housing today, with an estimated 47,000 apartment dwellers in the state of Washington affected by the disorder. This session offers a brief glimpse into the disorder, its effect on communities, and how to effectively work with and accommodate residents in situations of suspected hoarding.

Key Points:

  • Basic understanding of hoarding
  • How to identify and address potential hoarding situations
  • Reasonable accommodations for residents that exhibit hoarding tendencies

Instructor:

Laura McGuire, CAPS - Regional Manager for Woodspear Properties and WMFHA Board of Directors President
