Certified Mail Fix Takes Effect June 11

Posted By: William Schneider III Articles,

One of WMFHA's key legislative priorities from the 2026 session takes effect on June 11. HB 2664 eliminates certified mail requirements for most rental housing notices, reducing administrative burden and mailing costs while preserving notice requirements under state law.

This long-awaited fix addresses concerns raised by housing providers across Washington regarding the cost, delays, and logistical challenges associated with certified mail requirements.

Members should review their notice procedures and consult with legal counsel regarding implementation and compliance.
