WMFHA's First Ever Affordable Housing Summit was a Huge Success

Washington Multi-Family Housing Association’s inaugural Affordable Housing Summit brought together nearly 150 housing professionals for a day dedicated to education, connection and collaboration.

The Summit featured seven educational offerings covering a wide range of topics. Sessions ranged from the fundamentals of affordable housing to deeper dives into specific housing programs, giving attendees the opportunity to expand their knowledge regardless of their level of experience.

One of the highlights of the day was the opportunity to connect directly with representatives from the Seattle Office of Housing, Bellevue’s ARCH program, Housing Connector and the Washington State Housing Finance Commission. Representatives participated as speakers and were available to answer questions, helping attendees better understand the programs.

The Summit also recognized that successfully operating affordable housing communities involves much more than understanding programs and compliance. Additional sessions explored important topics including risk management, marketing and mental health.

Just as important as the education was the opportunity to connect. The conference created a space for affordable housing professionals to widen their network of support and resources.

The Affordable Housing Task Force is already looking ahead. Building on this year’s momentum, the goal is to grow the Summit next year with even more educational offerings, representation from additional affordable housing programs and opportunities for nonprofit partners to showcase the services and resources they provide.
