Washington Energy Code Delayed

Posted By: Ryan Makinster Advocacy News,

As part of our efforts to address the rising cost of compliance and increasing regulatory oversight, our WMFHA GA staff have been active in a stakeholder group that seeks to achieve a reasonable energy code as adopted by the Washington State Building Code Council (SBCC). The group is made up of interested parties including the Building Industry Association of Washington (BIAW), Washington REALTORS®, BOMA Seattle King County, NAIOP Washington, the major energy companies in Washington, and many others. Due to the efforts of this group and ongoing legislation, the SBCC at its September 15 meeting delayed the effective date of the new energy code until March 15, 2024.
